# Quotation values

> Every value set a quotation field returns, and what each value means.

The values each enumerated field on a quotation takes. Check it when you are branching on a line of a price.

## fee `kind`

Which shape a charge line takes.

| Value        | Description                                                                                       |
| ------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `fixed`      | A flat amount. The line carries no rate.                                                          |
| `percentage` | Worked out from an amount. The line also carries `rate_bps`, `basis_amount` and `basis_currency`. |

## fee `status`

Whether the line is being charged.

| Value         | Description                                                                     |
| ------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `active`      | Charged as shown.                                                               |
| `waived`      | Shown at zero. The line stays on the quote so you can see what was not charged. |
| `deprecating` | Still charged, and on its way out. `deprecated_at` says when it stops.          |

## fee `charged_by`

Whose charge the line is.

| Value    | Description                                                            |
| -------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `kira`   | Kira's charge. These add up to `totals.kira_revenue_total`.            |
| `client` | Your own markup, on top. These add up to `totals.client_markup_total`. |

## conversion `clamp`

Whether the market rate was held at parity.

| Value           | Description                                                                                                                                                                                                                    |
| --------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| `passthrough`   | The rate was used as sampled.                                                                                                                                                                                                  |
| `pinned_to_peg` | The rate was held at parity rather than the sampled one — either because the coin moved off its peg, or because the pair is held at parity by policy. `rate_source` says which. The difference is in the rate, never a charge. |

## conversion `rate_source`

Where the rate came from. Anything other than `kraken` means parity was used instead of a live sample.

| Value             | Description                                                               |
| ----------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `kraken`          | A live market sample.                                                     |
| `fallback_at_peg` | No sample was available, so parity was used.                              |
| `stale_at_peg`    | The sample was too old to use, so parity was used.                        |
| `usdc_peg_policy` | Parity was used because the pair is covered by the stablecoin peg policy. |

## pricing `tier`

The pricing tier the quote was priced at. `starting_tier` takes the same values and says which one you were on before this month's volume was counted.

| Value    | Description                                                  |
| -------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ |
| `tier_1` | The entry tier.                                              |
| `tier_2` | Reached once this month's volume passes the first threshold. |
| `tier_3` | Reached once it passes the second.                           |

Your thresholds and the rate at each tier are in your contract, not in the API.
