# Your team

> Who has dashboard access, and how an administrator changes what each person can do.

**Settings › Team** lists everyone with access to your account and the role each one holds. Everyone can open it. Only an administrator can change a role.

## Changing someone's role

1. Open **Settings › Team**.
2. Select the pencil on that person's row.
3. Pick the new role. Each one carries a line describing what it grants, and [Roles and permissions](/dashboard/roles) has the full picture.
4. Select **Save**.

The change applies from that person's next action. They do not sign in again, and you do not have to tell them to reload anything.

## Two changes the dashboard will not make

**You cannot change your own role.** The pencil on your own row is muted. Ask another administrator on your team.

**The last administrator keeps the role.** Somebody has to be able to assign roles and read the production credentials off the dashboard, so a change that would leave the account with no administrator is not allowed. Give someone else the Administrator role first; they can then change yours.

Both rules are enforced by Kira, not by the screen.

## Adding and removing people

Kira does that. Ask, naming the person and the role they should start with — see [Access](/dashboard/access). Nothing on the Team screen creates or removes a login.

## What is recorded

A role change is recorded against the administrator who made it, the same way every other action in the dashboard is recorded against the person who took it.
